Tox Away Days 2008 Schedule All dates run from 8am-1pm May 31st - Putnam County @ Putnam County Fairgrounds June 21st - Montgomery County @ Crawfordsville High School September 27th - Parke County @ Parke County Fairgrounds
Items Accepted FREE of charge: Stuff like paint products, pesticides, household chemicals and mercury should never go in the trash, down the drain, or in the burn barrel. Antifreeze; Cleaners; Oil-based Paint; Acids and Bases; Weed killers; Old fuels (gasoline, kerosene); Paint thinner/remover; Rechargeable/Lithium NiCad Batteries Only; Mercury-containing items (thermometers/thermostats/automatic shut-off irons); Computer monitors, printers, keyboards, CPU's ("laptops" and "hard drives"); Flourescent light bulbs; Adhesives; Driveway sealer; Motor oil filters; Fertilizer; Motor oil; Mercury; Pool Chemicals; Stain; Varnish; Pesticides; Auto Batteries
Get those old tires and appliances out of your basement, garage, or backyard! Tires and appliances will be accepted for reduced disposal fees. CFC Appliances: $10.00 Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers Non-CFC Appliance: $5.00 Stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters, microwaves, humidifiers Car Tires: First 6 tires free, $2.00 per additional tire, max 12 Truck Tires: First 2 tires free, $5.50 per additional tire, max 4 Farm Tires: First 2 tires free, $15.00 per additional tire, max 4 Tires on the rim: $1.50 each Televisions: $20.00 per tabletop unit and $25.00 per console unit
The following items WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED at any of the events: Asbestos; Lab Chemicals; Propane tanks; Explosives, Ammunition, or Firearms; Alkaline household batteries (are non-hazardous and may be disposed of in trash); Radioactive materials; Medical or infectious wastes; Latex paint (dry it out and dispose of it in your trash - it is non-hazardous) Please note: WCSWD is no longer offering the weekly pain X-change drop-off and battery pick-up programs. If you are in need of disposing of the above materials, the Tox-Away events will be your only avenue through the District, for now.
