School Education Programs

Teachers - Our education programs meet State Standards and they are FREE!

West Central Solid Waste District

provides many programs, materials, and information to public, private and home schools throughout Montgomery, Morgan, Parke, and Putnam Counties in Indiana. The Education Coordinator is experienced in working with students pre-K - adult, and will work with schools to meet a variety of needs. Some of the school education programs and activities include: "Worms Eat My Garbage"  "Trash to Treasure"  "4-R Basics: Reduce-Reuse-Recycle-Rethink"  "Environmental Jeopardy" "Enviroshopping" and "What Goes Around Comes Around".

Recycling Grants - Every school in the District is eligible for up to $500 of recycling containers or other supplies needed to begin or expand a school recycling program. E-mail or call for more information or an application.

Earth Day Activities and Contests E-mail or call the District! for information on our new Earth Day activity.

Classroom Presentations - The Education Coordinator is available to make classroom presentations on topics such as recycling, buying recycled products, composting, recycled crafts, and household hazardous waste. An interactive format is used whenever possible, including games, demonstrations, and experiments. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR A CLASSROOM VISIT!!! The dates fill up quickly, so plan ahead!
